Knee High Hosiery

We are all aware of the sex appeal that knee high boots have carried for decades, and the only thing changing is the kinds of outfits that they are being worn with (or without, for that matter). There has always been footwear that has carried with it a sultry label, and from dancers to actresses to millionaires wives, there are few women who do not look especially radiant wearing a pair.

Of course the whole point of wearing this particular type of footwear is to accentuate the legs and to draw attention to them. It would be uncomfortable and would defeat the purpose to wear long pants with them, so you will want to avoid covering up the knee high boots! Depending on where you are going, there is a variety of different articles of clothing that are perfect to wear with them to flaunt those great legs of yours. If you work in an office or other place where you are required to dress in a nicely casual way or semi professionally, you can wear these with a knee length skirt when they are a pair with a shorter heel. Youll want to avoid hugely tall heels in the office. The more heel they have the less professional the look becomes.

If you are heading out to your favorite club on a Friday night, wear the knee high boots with a form fitting mini skirt. If you are a pro at walking in taller heels, by all means go for it. However, if you will be doing a lot of walking during the night or you plan on drinking or dancing, you may again want to stick with the pairs that have a smaller heel.

Some women who wear the knee high boots enjoy only wearing them at home for their significant others eyes only. The heels can go as high as possible, and the skirts can go as short as possible. However, many women who keep their sexy footwear at home do not wear it with skirts. Corsets, fishnet pantyhose, or even nurses costumes, dominatrix attire, or other outfits are perfect and drop dead sexy with these kickers.

If you are new to wearing footwear like this, start out with spending a little more money for the most comfortable pair possible. If you will be wearing them for several hours at a time, you will want to remember that during the day and with much activity peoples feet tend to swell some. Try starting with a shorter heel at first too, until you get used to walking in them. You certainly want to bring attention to yourself with your knee high boots and not from falling over as you try to walk in them.

    1. your first outfit very perfect but not shoes but you don’t worried about that i will give you a link treds.co.uk is the best way to choose you own shoes style with mix you outfit and buy it online so go to this site and buy

  1. Is there something wrong with me?
I am obsessed with tights and socks. I buy them all the time and have a 6 drawer dresser full of them. Not boring white socks or crew socks, colorful striped, over the knee, thigh high, etc. I have pictures of different hosiery saved to my computer. When I travel abroad I spend over a hundred dollars on legwear. Am I weird or is it just a hobby?

    1. It’s harmless and I am sure that you are having fun with this collection of leg and footwear. And I am sure this has created your own person and well known style.
      Your cool

  2. What women wear some kind of hosiery, sheer or not under their ballet flats, or dress shoes in general?
I’ve heard some of us women complain about our feet being sweaty (and probably smelly) with ballet flats on. I suggested knee-highs or some kind of hosiery, and they gave me a crazy look. I think toe cleavage isn’t worth it even if semi cute(not as cute as open toed shoes) because so many women seem to have to wear band-aids with their bare feet and shoes. Just wondering others opinions…

    1. I always wear pantyhose when I’m wearing heels. It’s much more comfortable that way, and my feet don’t suffer blisters and whatnot.

  3. Question on wearing nylons/not wearing nylons…?
Girls, have any of you noticed that your feet smell differently when you’re wearing nylons then let’s say when you’re wearing regular socks or even barefeet in enclosed shoes? I’ve noticed that after all day in the office wearing nylon hosiery whether it’s pantyhose or knee highs -when I wear slacks sometimes- my feet smelly differently than if I wear cotton socks or even bare feet (i don’t use shoes in bare feet only they have an offensive smell sorry!). Have any of you noticed this as well?

I have to add that my b/f likes the aroma of my nylonned feet. He sez it’s a turn on for him and let’s just say it leads for some “fun” at nights! ;^)

NOTE: GUYS, pls don’t answer. It’s ur business if you wear nylons or not; this question is meant for us girlz!

    1. I wear nylons every day and, yes, I know the scent you are talking about. My hubby absolutely loves that nylon/leather/foot aroma and, yes, it leads to some truly wild times after hours, let me just say……especially if I happen to wear the same pair of thigh high stockings an extra day.

  4. Ladies, if you’re wearing hosiery with slacks, jeans, or other pants, do you wear pantyhose or knee highs?
I always assumed most women wore those little knee-high nylons with pants, but a female friend of mine told me that she almost always wears pantyhose in that situation.

I’m not trying to sound perverted, I’m just curious.

  5. Sandalfoot or Reinforced Toe?
I know most women now a days don’t wear hosiery (pantyhose, thigh highs, tights or knee highs), but if you do or did, what is the prefered style? Sandalfoot or Reinforced Toe?

    1. HATE sandalfoot but if your shoes are closed it doesn’t matter. reinforced toe is the way to go…

  6. 2 fishnet hosiery questions?
    1. Are fishnets still considered skanky? would it be appropriate to wear them to church with a nice shirt, skirt and flats?
    2. Could i wear knee high fishnets under pin striped dress pants and wear classy looking black flats and a dressy businessy looking collared shirt with a vest over it?

    what do you think? thanks!

    1. Like fishnets are cool. I love them. BUT with a shirt, skirt n flats (no matter how nice) it could look a little naughty school girl and at church.. y’know depends on the actual skirt

they will always look amazing with a pencil skirt and nice heels though

      second idea sounds cool though

  7. I invented a sheer comfortable affordable thigh high hosiery…???
would more women wear them with knee length skirts…???

  8. Why some women refuses to wear pantyhose (or any kind of hosiery) even in cold seasons?
In my opinion, pantyhose, stockings or knee-highs improves the look of legs, they are very feminine, sexy, and is hard to believe they are uncomfortable because they are soft and silky. However, some women refuses to wear them. Why? I would like to know just a few reasons. Thank you.

    1. they look all soft and silky but once you get them on i garuntee that at least once they will twist and bunch uncomfortably. yeah, i see exactly what you mean about them making legs look sexy, but the simple truth is they are terribly uncomfy. besides, they arent always practical.

  9. What percent of women wear some kind of hosiery under ballet flats or dress shoes? Prefer bare or not?
I’ve heard women complain about their feet being sweaty (and probably smelly) with ballet flats on. I suggested knee-highs or some kind of hosiery, and they gave me a crazy look. I think toe cleavage isn’t worth it even if semi cute(not as cute as open toed shoes) because so many women seem to have to wear band-aids with their barefeet and shoes.

  10. How many pairs of each type of hosiery do you own and what do you wear most often? ?
How many pairs and colors of each type of hosiery do you own?

    Knee highs-
    Thigh highs-
    Stockings-
    Pantyhose-
    Garter belts-
    Other-

  11. Under calf length trousers do most wear tights/hose or hold ups?
Calf length trousers with heels are very in fashion at the moment, and on cooler days tend to be worn with (usually opaque) hosiery, but which type? I guess you could get away with knee highs just about but if you wear them which option would you go for?

  12. When I’m in the mood for hosiery…what guide lines should I use in picking?
If I want to wear hosiery how do I know when to wear
    a) knee highs
    b) stockings
    c) thigh highs
    d) pantyhose

    What are advantages or disadvantages…

    1. Knee-highs are of course for slacks, do NOT wear them with long skirts…sooner or later the tops will show and all your fashion sense you’ve put into the rest of your outfit will be for nothing because you will look like a total doofus. I can only think of 2 reasons to wear pantyhose: first, are the warmest thing in winter (if you’re in a climate that has winter) and second if you are wearing a really short skirt. Otherwise I don’t like pantyhose, they are awkward to put on (especially if your bf is watching) , they’re matronly, and when you get a run you have to throw the whole pair out. Which leaves you with a choice of thigh-highs or stockings. Thigh-highs are easy and quick to put on, but get the kind with a wide lace top so the elastic won’t bite you. I wear them whenever I wear a casual skirt or dress. When I get more dressed up (like for work or when going out) I wear stockings with garters which is a little more trouble but not as much as you’d think once you get used to it. I can wear stockings or thigh-highs with skirts as short as about 15″ but with shorter lengths I either wear pantyhose, tights, or bare legs. If you have pretty panties, it’s a shame to wear pantyhose and cover them up. Hope this helps…have fun!

  13. Any of you girls here wore some kind of hosiery with nice shoes when you wore the nice dress to the prom?
If you did wore some kind of hosiery, such as nylons, with your prom dress, you can tell what kind are they (panythose, knee-high, etc.) and what color.

    1. You don’t wear hosiery with a prom dress. Prom is held during the late spring months so it would be too warm and out of season for that. Plus it would look bad with a prom dress.

  14. Ladies do you find your feet smell more wearing nylons or just socks?
Do you find your feet smell more wearing nylons such has knee highs or pantyhose or thigh highs or nylon stockings than when you’re wearing either cotton socks or no hosiery at all?

    1. Since I wear pantyhose all the time, I would have to say they smell more when wearing hose. I only wear socks maybe once a week for a few hours when Im working out. Seems like there are lots of questions about stinky feet this week. Maybe we should call this stinky feet week!! Who’s with me?

  15. halloween costume help?
i found a super cute costume, i LOVE it, but i wanna wear some knee sox with it. i found the cutest ones, but it doesnt really match. can you try to find some cute ones that will match? try to avoid black please.
    here’s the costume.

    heres the ones i like.
    http://www.spirithalloween.com/accessories_hosiery/thigh-high-white-stockings-w-white-bow/

    thanks a bunch!!

    1. i think you should get white socks with pink/black bows or just get those. it won’t throw the costume off that much

    1. Try your local pharmacy, they are called TED hose.
Walgreeens carries them if you have one in your area.

  16. If you are required to wear hosiery at work..?
Is it tacky to wear knee highs with a long skirt? Lenght is just a few inches above my ankle.

    1. I would say that it would only be tacky if it were noticeable.
I would wear thigh highs or pantyhose, just to play it safe.

  17. What style hosiery do you prefer for day to day wear..?
Which do you find the most comfortable for day to day wear at work etc, Tights (Pantyhose), Stockings/Hold Ups suspender tights or knee highs..?

  18. what women wear some kind of hosiery, sheer or not under their ballet flats, or dress shoes in general?
I’ve heard some of us women complain about their feet being sweaty (and probably smelly) with ballet flats on. I suggested knee-highs or some kind of hosiery, and they gave me a crazy look. I think toe cleavage isn’t worth it even if semi cute(not as cute as open toed shoes) because so many women seem to have to wear band-aids with their barefeet and shoes.

    1. i wear those socks (peds) so that i still wear something there so it doesnt get all sweaty put you cant tell =]

  19. opinion on my vamp costume?
I am going to be a vampire for Halloween. I will wear a flowy black dress that come slightly past the knee and has a black lace flower, a black velvet jacket, black hosiery with black lace at the bottom, and black high heels. I am naturally very pale so I don’t need makeup for that, but suggestions of other makeup are welcome. Also, what color nail polish should I wear? Please post your opinions and suggestions.

  20. How do I stop pantyhose and nylons from drying out my skin?
I never had this problem before, but now that I wear hosiery to work (usually pantyhose, sometimes knee highs) it seems the skin on my heels gets really dry. I don’t think my moisturizer is helping much. Any suggestions?

    1. Nylon in enclosed shoes doesn’t breathe well. You might not want to hear this, but rule out athlete’s foot first; this might just be a mild case. Micatin or some other treatment may help there.

If you’re sure it’s not athlete’s foot, moisturize. In the shower, lightly buff your heels with a pumice stone. Right after the shower, moisturize while the skin’s pores are still open (I use Bath & Body Works moisturizing lotion). I also moisturize just before putting on my hose in the morning.

There are also a few brands of pantyhose that have jojoba or aloe in them, though I can’t imagine the treatments would last for more than a couple of washes.

      Good luck.

  21. How many pairs of each type of hosiery do you own?

  22. Pantyhose Fetish? Feet? Heels? Etc.?
I have a huge foot fetish. I love womens feet especially clad in hosiery -pantyhose being my favorite, followed by stockings, stay-ups/thigh highs, knee highs, etc. I love everything nylons and I love worshipping and smelling a womans foot for hours at a time. Is the normal? Is there help for this stupid fetish? P.S. I dont wear nylons, never have never will, not gay, bi, etc.

    1. A Nylon/pantyhose fetish is very common for men. So much so that a trend is under way to make pantyhose a unisex item.

Please check out these websites to learn more about men’s pantyhose

  23. Ladies, if you’re wearing hosiery with dress slacks (or other pants), do you wear pantyhose or knee high hose?
I always assumed most women wore those little knee-high nylons with pants, but a female friend of mine told me that she almost always wears pantyhose in that situation.

I know it probably sounds like a perverted question, but I was just a little curious.

    1. I don’t even own any knee-highs, so any time I’m wearing hosiery with slacks it will always be pantyhose.

Like the other girls have said, the control top keeps everything smooth and “in place”, gives me a firmer look and prevents any “jiggling”, and I never have to worry about panty lines showing through.

  24. Hosiery with slit dress?
I’m going to a dressy do very soon and have chosen to wear a long slinky red dress. This dress has a slit up the front to a little above the knee (not high thigh). There is another slit up the back, not quite so long. Form fitting and no spare material. Accompanying shoes will be high heeled and strappy and my toenails will be a rich red colour. Due to my height the dress is not floor length but more ankle length. (Looks good, though!)

Now the question is: what hosiery if any should I wear? It was going to be no hosiery but then, thinking about the colour feet go, maybe nude colour tights with sandal toe (not reinforced toe)? Comments and suggestions please?
Okay, not the slit up the front, but a different dress, slit up the back and a shorter hemline (but still below the knee).

And a pair of strappy black shoes to go with.

I still fancy the red toenails. Hosiery perhaps a shade darker than “natural” but with an unreinforced toe, perhaps?

    1. I would wear a nude or slightly tan sheer to waist hosiery (make sure that it is a sheer toe). If your shoes are black you can probably get away with an off-black color of hosiery.

  25. Is it acceptable to wear white stockings over fishnets?
I wanted to wear layer black fishnets under white knee-high socks with domme boots.

    Does this sound like overkill?

The look is supposed to be schoolgirlesque (green plaid skirt; white collared, button-down shirt; pigtails), but still sexy. Can this be accomplished through layering hosiery?

    1. You have it backwards. You wear sheer stockings like white, black red, etc., under the fishnets, and let the fishnets accent the background color. That way you can change the effect of any color fishnet stockings and make your own color creations.

you can layer socks over that, but it’s sexier with just the stockings. If you want to go for exotic, wear a garter belt and stockings with two pair of stockings layered like Brittney Spears in the Hotel ONYX Tour.

  26. Under knee length trousers, which type of hosiery?
Knee length trousers with heels are very in fashion at the moment, and on cooler days tend to be worn with (usually opaque) hosiery, but which type? I guess you could get away with knee highs just about but if you wear them which option would you go for?

  27. Fishnet hosiery?
I have been wearing fishnet hosiery (knee socks, thigh highs, pantyhose) for the past couple of years. My girlfriends say they are “slutty” but I love them. What do you think? BTW, I am in my mid 20′s.

    1. I think they look great. Don’t worry about what your girlfriends say. Maybe they are jealous because while you are looking sexy in your fishnets they are too worried what other people think so they don’t wear them and because they think they look “slutty” they think this is what others must be thinking….Phew! That was a mouthful!!! Keep wearing them if you like them. They look good on young women like yourself. There is a difference between looking sexy and looking slutty.

  28. What stores can I find the following hosiery?
    Striped
    Polka Dotted
    Colored Tights
    LegWarmers
    Knee Highs
    Thigh Highs
    —–
    Thanks so much XO

  29. Are there any ladies that wear hosiery on a daily basis?
Whether stockings, pantyhose, knee highs and what colors do you wear? Are they a necessary evil where you work or do you wear them because you like the way they feel?

    1. I live in Miami and I can attest to the fact that most women here DO NOT wear hosiery… It’s just too hot.

Most professional offices here don’t require them.

  30. Where can I find Cheap, Quality Tights etc?? (Need Quick answers, please)?
Where can I find Cheap Hosiery?? (Pantyhose, Tights, Leggings, Knee High/Over the Knee Socks etc)

    …in MELBOURNE?!!

Going out Tomorrow.. would love to buy some really nice tights.. but I’m on a budget!

ALSO…if you’re not from Melbourne.. can you please name some good quality tights brands?

    would much appreciate it! :D

    Need quick helpful answers, please.

    1. iam from sydney buttt…. i think its the same in melb.

i got tights off woolworths. i recently bought a pack of 2 really good quailty tights for $8 in woolworths. i forgot the brand name of it but they hve a small section and maybe you’ll see what i mean. the tights i go had nice patterns and ive had them for abou 6 weeks and it hasnt ripped or anything but i wore them out about once a week. soo yeah..

they look like the expensive ones but really it was only $4 4 1 but it only comes in the packet of 2.

  31. Which hosiery do you prefer to choose for day to day wear?
Which do you find the most comfortable and enjoyable for day to day wear at work etc, Tights (Pantyhose), Stockings, Hold Ups, suspender tights or knee highs..?

    1. Definitely stockings, I can’t stand pantyhose. I wear stockings and a garter belt or open bottom girdle everyday.

  32. Are knee highs still worn?
I was wondering if knee highs were still worn. My mother used to wear them for work all the time with heels. I recently have started a job and think they would make a nice compliment for my dress shoes, though it seems like most women do not wear hosiery.

    1. YES!
      i LOVEloveLOVE knee highs!
i wear them alllll the time

i get mine at nordstroms and victoria’s secret
